Ladies that Lunch
I just wanted to share some pictures from my favourite pub in the Ribble Valley; The Assheton Arms in Downham. This pub is a lovely example of a traditional country pub that has been sympathetically restored and decorated. Vintage rugs cover original wood floorboards and the pictures and decor that cover the walls are the original pieces that have likely hung there for years. The walls and wood panelling have been painted in different neutral shades from white to grey and dark blues. Antique and vintage chairs have been re-upholstered using beautiful woollen checks and the scatter cushions complete the look with different patterns and colour. I noticed they had given a nod towards the industrial trend with the gorgeous lights - pictured below. Top all this off with a roaring open fire and the smell of traditional English pub food and fresh fish (The Assheton Arms is now a seafood pub). I had lived in this area from the age of 11 and this pub is by far the best transformation I have seen to our many wonderful village pubs.
