Halloween doesn't have to mean tacky decorations and the standard pumpkin; I prefer a more natural and toned down approach.  I have shared some ideas below that I have used this year for a more sophisticated haunted house.

Natural arrangement

Cut leaves and twigs and arrange in a tin jug with some mini pumpkins and pressed leaves in a clear glass frame (Galvanised Jug from SmugFox.co.uk, Zink Picture Frame from SmugFox.co.uk)

Create a display of mini pumpkins alongside lanterns and candles instead of the usual carved pumpkin.  This still looks spooky but with a more modern designers touch.

Paint different sizes of pumpkins and display on your coffee table.  This is a great look for a neutral living space.

Make your own art by printing letters on your home printer; this looks most affective with each letter in a single frame.  Display the art leaning against the wall with your painted pumpkins.

If you don't have time or just don't enjoy DIY here are some products I have found to add a bit of Halloween glamour to your home without having to get out the pumpkin carving set.

Cute handmade fabric pumpkins - cute and they don't go rotten!!

This pumpkin photograph is a great alternative to having the real thing
